WAIS App for iOS (iPhone, iPad) and HTML5 (for Everyone Else) (Roman Zhovtulya, USA, 05/24/15 4:22 pm)

Dear WAISers:

A quick update on the "state of the app" situation.  After months of jumping through many hoops to prepare and publish the iOS app on the Apple AppStore, I'm happy to report that we are almost ready to announce the Apple-specific WAIS Forums app.

For your information, you need a recent Apple computer and an iPhone (not an easy thing to find for our developers in Ukraine, given how overpriced these things are), as well as a lot of patience (and blind faith in Apple's processes), to develop the iOS apps. Compared to developing and publishing Android apps, iOS is easily 2-3 times more difficult and resource-intensive.

However, with the help of remote access tools and some trickery, we finally managed to develop and publish the app to the AppStore.

You might be interested to know that the app was partially developed and published on a computer in California, which our developers logged into remotely from Ukraine and worked overnight, to satisfy the Apple requirements. So, in a strange way, we can claim that the new WAIS Forums app for iOS was "made in USA" (by remote developers in Ukraine). There you have it--the wonders of modern age.

While we are working out the final issues with the iOS app, please check the HTML5 version of it, which runs on any device with a browser:

JE comments:  I have already loaded the draft ("Beta"?) version on my iPhone, and it's a marvel.  Posts, searches, all those things you demand from WAIS, but in a hand-held format.  In brief, it's WAIS on the Go!

The public launch of our iPhone App should be coming in a few days.  In the meantime, check out the trial version (above link).  The various features can be accessed by clicking on the three lines in the upper left.

An attaboy to Roman and his colleagues.
