You Want 1000 Miles of Range? Check Out the Aptera (Roman Zhovtulya, USA, 10/31/22 6:49 am)

John E wrote: "[Since I drive] about 30,000 miles per year, I have a shamefully large carbon footprint. I fear it's the Michigan way, exacerbated by our absolute lack of public transport. But as soon as I can reliably get 400 miles of range with an (affordable) electric, I'll take the plunge."

How about 1000 miles per charge and up to 40 miles per day from the built-in solar panels, starting at $25K? Aptera is probably the most innovative car to hit the market soon:

JE comments:  Too good to be true--especially the range part?  The delivery window has also been pushed back into 2023 or '24.  A shakeout in the EV industry, like with every new industry, is inevitable.

I wish the Apterians great success.  I might even consider one, although the goofy futurist design won't win over every heart.  Also, note that it was engineered in San Diego.  Will solar charges be possible when your car is encased in Michigan ice?
