Britain's Second Empire? A Documentary on UK's Role in Global Finance (Tor Guimaraes, USA, 04/22/19 2:52 am)

For many years I have been posting my strong evidence-based opinions about how the global private interests have bought governments away from representing their people's interests.  Yesterday I watched a documentary about the second British Empire, much more subtle and powerful than the first. More importantly, the documentary provides clear evidence that the whole world is involved in a process where ordinary people do the work and pay the taxes while drug dealers, corrupt politicians, and wealthy corporate leaders hide their money from taxation and accountability.

Since the focus of the documentary is The City of London, an apparently autonomous private entity within the city of London, I would be very interested in hearing what Nigel Jones have to say about this documentary, and whether or not he believes it has anything to do with Brexit.

JE comments:  Britain was the world's financial center during its first empire, too--at least until 1914.  Time is at a premium during these closing weeks of the academic semester, but I hope to give The Spider's Web a watch in the coming days.
