As an American of mixed European descent, it seems to me that Zionism is a retreat to tribalism. Although the motives were religious, there is a kind of rough racial self-selection among all Europeans from 300 to Hitler's day. From 1880 to 1945, "nation,"race", "religion," and "language" were terribly confused. Apparently Christopher Jones, has not yet recovered, for what ever reason, from the tensions of World War II.
