PostWelcoming Kristin Pauly; An "Anthem" of Pre-Revolutionary Iran (from Gary Moore) (John Eipper, USA, 07/12/21 3:27 am)
Gary Moore writes:
A warm welcome to Kristin Pauly. And thanks for that great look inside the Johnson White House.
Together with JE, I hope Kristin soon gives us her impressions of Iran before Khomeini. I wonder if in her time there she heard that haunting symbol of secular, pre-Revolutionary Iran, the song "Mara Beboos."
JE comments: Kristin Pauly is presently vacationing in the Maine woods, but I trust she'll find some time to reflect on the soundtrack of the Shah era: "Mara Beboos." WAISer Massoud Malek sent the (translated) lyrics and a comment back in 2015. Given the song's secular message, I'm still curious whether it is officially tolerated in today's Iran.
