I live across from the Hoover House, which is less than an eighth of a mile from from the central campus of Stanford. Of course, I also lived across the street from Ronald Hilton, our Founder.
It is a magical neighborhood, facing the satellite dish and hills with a very popular community walk (closed to the public now due tocoronavirus). Faculty children on campus grow up biking, skateboarding, playing together reminiscent of the old days as I think of it. It is a storied environment.
JE comments: Yes indeed. I've been privileged to visit this spectacular neighborhood on several occasions, including a 2001 WAIS event at Ronald Hilton's house (the only time I was inside "The Hesperides").
