South Africa: Severe Weather in St Francis Bay (Timothy Ashby, South Africa, 11/06/18 6:34 am)

Writing from South Africa (where Rosemary and I are visiting for a week to supervise the packing and shipping of our household items from our house in St Francis Bay), I can add to the evidence of climate change by the observation that the weather here in the Eastern Cape--at the beginning of the South African summer--can best be described as dismal, with high winds, rain, sleet and a temperature this morning of 11 degrees C, which is colder that London.

Our neighbours who have lived here all their lives told us that over the past ten years there has been a definite climate change--scarce rain and shorter summers, with cold weather persisting until Christmas and starting again in late April.

Last month, Mallorca (the destination of our household goods) had unprecedented heavy rains and flash floods that killed 15 people.

JE comments:  The deniers are increasingly forced to rely on faith and ideology alone.  Perhaps they are comforted by the old maxim:  "Of course climate change exists in practice.  But does it work in theory?"

Best of luck with the move, Tim.  As Bill Clinton said (left thumb raised), I feel your pain.  We just went through a 12-mile relocation from Adrian to nearby Loch Erin in Onsted, Michigan, and it was stressful enough.  Imagine the pressure of changing continents and hemispheres.
