PostWho Killed Frank Olson? A New Documentary, "Wormwood" (Paul Levine, Denmark, 03/11/18 7:17 am)
In response to John Heelan (10 March), there are many disgraceful examples of a government's war on its own citizens.
In China, the last time the People's Liberation Army went to war was on June 4, 1989, when Chinese soldiers killed and maimed perhaps thousands of Chinese citizens in and around Tiananmen Square.
But there is another instance closer to home in the news. The case of Frank Olson who died under mysterious circumstances is the subject of a new documentary film by Errol Morris called Wormwood. It is available on Netflix. Here is a thoughtful review in the NYRB:
JE comments: This one strikes close to my family, given my father's service with the Army Chemical Corps. I'll be tuning in. Morris's conclusion is that Olson did not commit suicide in 1953, as per the official report, but was executed.
