PostPipeline Update (Eugenio Battaglia, Italy, 04/17/16 7:11 am)
In the past we have reviewed the situation of gas pipelines to Western Europe. Recent news has reported that work on the TAP pipeline from Albania to Puglia (Italy) will begin on 15 May. Environmental inspections and environmentalists permitting, next Sunday there will be a referendum in Italy, by which oil and gas platforms within 12 miles from the shore will not be permitted. The project will cost 200 million euros, but SAIPEM may get more contracts. It will reach a depth of 820 meters, a length 105 Km with a diameter of 90 cm.
The TAP will be run by a joint venture of BP, SOCAR, SNAM, FLUXYS, ENAGAS and AXPO, and receive gas from the Caspian region, not a quiet place, passing through Turkey with a crazy unreliable regime.
