PostMerry Christmas 2017 (John Eipper, USA, 12/25/17 2:51 am)
A joyful Christmas to WAISers, and may 2018 bring you health, happiness, and peace. Aldona and I depart in one hour for the frigid North, already having received our Magi-like Christmas present to each other: 10 days soaking up Cuba's history, culture, sights, and sun. I am just as excited to share my experiences with WAISers once I'm back to capitalist levels of wi-fi bandwidth.
Cubans celebrate Christmas on the 24th, with loud family celebrations and the universal wish of felicidades. There are very few other visible trappings of the holiday. The near-total absence of commercial hype has been striking, even refreshing.
We'll be in transit most of today, but "normal" WAISing will resume on the morrow. This unique, long-suffering, and wonderful country has been very kind to us, but it will be good to be home.
A blessed day to all.
