Back in WAISworld--For Now (John Eipper, USA, 12/20/17 4:22 am)

Dear WAISers:

Your faithful editor is alive and well, but I had no Internet access from Monday morning until today.  We are presently in colonial Trinidad on the southern coast, and are staying in the casa particular of the splendid Doña Yolanda.  She cannot shower enough love on her guests.  If it weren't for the Internet headaches, I would never want to leave.

This post is brought to you via government Wi-Fi in Trinidad's 18th-century Plaza Mayor, where I am sitting on hard cobblestone steps surrounded by at least five other users.  (And it's 7:20 in the morning!)  The views to the coastal mountains above and the Caribbean below are magical.

Gary Moore sent this graphic, below, which sums up Cuba's Wi-Fi.  Thank you, Gary!  But progress is progress:  even two years ago, hotspots here were unknown.

I will continue to post your comments until my one-hour access card runs dry.  After this, the next WAIS postings will appear tomorrow (Thursday) evening, December 21st, from our hotel in Varadero.  Pax et lux!
